Feature · Goals and splits

Sub-6 is a wish. Five splits is a plan.

Got a time in your head and no idea if it's sane? Pick it. LankFit splits it into swim, T1, bike, T2 and run targets from what you've actually been doing, then shows the gap every week.

What it does

Pick a goal time. Get a target for every leg, transitions included.

Goal per distanceSprint, Olympic (Standard), half, full, or a standalone run, ride or swim.
Split calculatorTurns one time into five targets that add up.
Recency-weightedBuilt from what you have done lately, not your best day in 2023.
Feeds ReadinessThe pace-gap table compares these targets with your projections.
Updates as you trainEvery new activity moves your projection, so the gap stays honest.
Linked to racesEach race on the calendar can carry its own goal.

How realistic is it?

Every goal gets an honest verdict.

Ahead of goal, on track, realistic, a stretch, very ambitious, or out of reach for this race. Alongside it, the time you could realistically win back in the weeks you have left, and the stretch target if everything goes right.

  • Starts from where you'd finish today, not where you wish you would.
  • Scaled by whether your fitness is climbing, flat or falling.
  • A rule of thumb you can read, not a black box.

A rule of thumb on the gap and your fitness trend: the time left usually wins back 0.5% plus 0.7% a month, more if your fitness is climbing.

Recent efforts count more

A 10 km tempo run from last week says more about race day than one from three months ago. The split calculator weights your efforts by how recent they are, so the targets move as you get fitter.

  • Weights decay week by week.
  • Hard efforts and race results count most.
  • Change the weighting on the Triathlon logic page.

Sub-5 at the Coastal Half

5:00:00 splits into a 0:36 swim, 2:40 bike and 1:39 run, with four minutes in transition.

Ten weeks later the gap table says the run is fine and the bike is six minutes short. That's a useful thing to know in August.
